How We Measure Success

Defining expected outcomes and determining the proper criteria for measuring them ensures that we share with our clients a clear idea of what constitutes “success.” Yet, in today’s dynamic and complex capital markets, separating the impact of effective investor relations strategies from broader market forces can be challenging. While potential yardsticks for measuring overall IR success abound, the most common - stock price, the shareholder mix, analyst ratings, and financial metrics - do not always illustrate the entire picture.

Evaluating improvement doesn’t have to be difficult, but it does require strategy, planning and thoughtfulness. At Trout, we have worked successfully with clients to establish thorough metrics –  quantitative and qualitative – suited to a variety of situations. With each new client, we draw upon this background to develop the right criteria for success and derive benchmarks useful in evaluating results and providing insight from which we can learn.
